Previous live events include poetry readings at venues and festivals nationwide including London's Southbank Centre (reading alongside David McAlmont), Toast Poetry (reading alongside Ella Frears, Joe Dunthorne and Jo Bell), Primadonna Festival (reading alongside Dean Atta) and Inkandescent's Queer Poetry Soiree (reading alongside Richard Scott). In 2023, James toured venues nationwide with the 'Wild Life' book tour. Between 2016-2019, James toured nationwide with his solo play 'Rubber Ring', which played venues including The Lowry, Leicester Curve, The Marlowe Theatre and The Tristan Bates Theatre in London's West End.
As an interviewer, James has chaired in conversations for organisations such as National Centre For Writing, Holt Festival and Norwich Pride. At these events, James has interviewed actors, writers and performers including Suranne Jones, Julian Clary, Elly Griffiths, Jonathan Harvey, Ferdia Lennon and Clare Pollard.
